Make a difference - become a volunteer in a youth club at Holmegaard!

 

A large proportion of asylum seekers who come to Denmark are children and young people. They may have fled war, disasters and other conditions, and many therefore have unpleasant experiences in their baggage. What they have in common is that they have all been torn from their youth and are currently uncertain about where life will take them.

It is a brand new youth club that is going to start up at Holmegaard Asylum Center. The main purpose of the youth club is to create a free space for the young people at the center, where uncertainty and waiting time take a back seat and where you can just be a completely ordinary young person together with other young people.

As a volunteer, you will, together with other volunteers, be responsible for creating some pleasant weekly activities together with the young people who live at the center. As a volunteer, you must help create a nice environment where the young people have some good experiences with the volunteers and each other in a safe environment. It is entirely up to you what you want to start together. It can be anything from pleasant activities at the center to excursions where you can show the young people cool things in the local area. For example, visiting the local cultural center for a meal together or going to a concert together. It is (almost) only your imagination that sets the limits!

 

We expect you to


• Are at least 18 years old
• Want to initiate activities based on the wishes and needs of the young people at the center.
• Would you like to be part of a group of volunteers where you plan and take joint responsibility for the activities?
• Are able to attend meetings and participate in the youth club, which will be held one weekday a week from approximately 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at least twice a month. In addition, you must be able to participate in volunteer meetings approximately every other month.
• Is robust and has the courage and desire to create relationships with young people in a particularly vulnerable position
• Have the motivation and time to participate for at least one year.

The activities will generally take place at premises at Gustavvej 7 5935 Bagenkop. Transport to and from the activity is covered by the Danish Youth Red Cross.
