Leadership Academy
The Danish Red Cross Youth aims to strengthen youth’s possibility for influence on their societies. By building and strengthening the youth’s skills as Youth Leaders within the Red Cross and Red Crescent movement, we are shaping the humanitarian leaders of tomorrow and building a strong foundation for a vibrant civil society.
To achieve this, the Danish Red Cross Youth has established a platform for youth to take action and become agents for change in the development of their society. The youth is the future and therefore it is essential that they have influence on the future.
The Danish Red Cross Youth collaborates with Red Cross and Red Crescent national societies across the world. A core element in developing the capacity of these societies is the strengthening of the youth volunteers.
By gathering motivated youth volunteers we can both strengthen the quantity and quality of youth projects and simultaneously build a stronger Red Cross and Red Crescent identity among volunteers in the different national societies.
To train these Youth Leaders from the various national societies the Danish Red Cross Youth has established a Leadership Academy, which is a two week seminar with participants from all the different national societies in the age between 20-30 years.
What is Leadership Academy?
The overall aim of the Leadership Academy is to make youth volunteers from Red Cross and Red Crescent from all over the world capable of planning and implementing activities independently with the purpose of creating a positive change for vulnerable children and youth in their societies.
The exchange of culture, experiences and knowledge between the upcoming Youth Leaders is a core element of the Leadership Academy. The Danish Red Cross youth therefore also finds it important to create a breeding ground for further networking and exchange of experiences among the participants after the Leadership Academy has finished.
The next Leadership Academy is going to be held in 2012. The official application and detailed information will be linked on this site.
